Swiss Chard 'Bright Lights'

$4.75

Pre-order for local pick-up available as early as March 15.

Swiss chard (a.k.a. beet greens) is not a common green in most people’s diet, but it should be! The neon veining show-cased in Swiss chard ‘Bright Lights’ is enough to draw anyone’s eye to the garden.

Like its relative, spinach, Swiss chard can be consumed raw or cooked in a number of recipes. I would argue that Swiss chard trumps spinach any day because of its added aesthetic value.

Height & Spread: ~12”

A Note from the Grower

Try incorporating ‘Bright Lights’ into your ornamental landscape for added interest, or you may even want to keep your interior interesting by placing the leaves in a clear vase of water inside your home! Plus, this variety is an All-America Selection winner.

Growing greens is absolutely rewarding! They create a picture perfect spring garden, and because of their short lives and shallow roots systems, they can grow in almost any vessel in which you plant them. Enjoy fresh lettuce, arugula, radicchio, kale or chard from the mixes I have offered this year.

It is key to get your greens planted while it is still cool to ensure longer harvest time. Last year, I planted in planters and in-ground, and I have to say, I enjoyed my planter experience best, harvest time lasted longer and I had more room in my raised bed garden for other plants. Head to the Plant Guide for greens planting, care and harvest info.
