Zucchini Squash 'Eightball'

$4.00

‘Eight Ball’ zucchini is an All-America Selection winner because of its ease to grow and unique spherical fruit form. If you’ve ever grown squash, you know that there is always too much all at once! Eight Ball zucchini’s unique shape and small fruit size (2-3”) make the production count much more tolerable.

A Note from the Grower

There are many interesting squashes to choose from in the gardening world, and I have just a couple. Plant squash if you’re looking for some vegetable variation in your garden. There’s nothing like a fresh squash fried up in a pan or thrown on the grill in the summer.

Squash has a habit of magnetizing pests—squash bugs (Anasa tristis) in particular. They’re just too good to leave out of the garden mix! Starting with healthy plants and a clean planting site is always a great place to start to avoid early infestation. Try adding marigolds near the squash patch as a repellent. Sprays are difficult to use as a control method after infestation has occurred, so work to clean your planting site by removing all debris where overwintering bugs could be hiding. If you notice any eggs on the plant stems or leaves, remove them manually. Check out this extension article from University of California on the subject.
